We may be getting a little ahead of ourselves, but if you’re planning on changing things around the house after the holidays are over and the decorations are put back in the attic, here are a few early seeds to plant — in your designer’s head, that is!

Color Trends The Pantone® Color Institute, the leading color authority in the world, has issued its Spring 2016 Fashion Color Report. As the executive director Leatrice Eiseman is quoted, “Colors this season transport us to a happier, sunnier place …” We couldn’t agree more. As you’re planning your room makeover or considering a new decor treatment for the coming spring, get inspired with these bright, vivid colors Pantone has selected as trend-setters. Even the names of the 10 color palette are fun and playfully descriptive, such as Rose Quartz, Peach Echo, Serenity, or Snorkel Blue. Check out the colors and the colorful descriptions at Pantone.com.

Lighting Fixtures The trend in LED lighting will continue as retail furnishing giant IKEA showcases its 2016 Lighting Fixture catalog with only LED lights. See the article on the TRENDIER website for a look at some exciting fixture designs coming. LED stands for “Light Emitting Diodes” and are considered to be “more efficient, durable, versatile and longer lasting” than incandescent or even CFLs, according to EnergyStar.gov.

Decorating Trends Check out Maria Killam’s website for a scroll-down of “the trends you need to know right now for 2016.” These are her observations from the High Point Market (High Point, North Carolina) which as every designer and decorator knows is the “Mecca” of the interior fashion world. Her keen eye and photo documentation is the next best thing to going there, and it’s a lot easier on your feet! It’s absolutely gorgeous!

Flooring Trends Okay, we’re a bit biased in this area, but there’s just no denying that LVT will continue to trend as a flooring favorite in 2016. Just ask your neighborhood flooring retailer. And no wonder! With all the variety of shades, colors, textures, and natural looks, LVT complements everything in any room. No doubt that there’s a NovaFloor style that’s perfect for your Snorkel Blue walls!
